VIRGIL VAN DIJK

According to the Mirror, Chelsea will make a £50million offer to Southampton for their Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk.

The Netherlands international handed in a transfer request earlier this month as he attempts to force through a move away from St Mary’s with Liverpool thought to be his preferred destination.

RATING: 7/10

SPORT360 VERDICT

Not all that surprising to see Chelsea linked with a new centre-half after their opening day defeat to Burnley but they face stiff opposition for his signature from Liverpool.

The Reds have zealously attempted to prize the 26-year-old away all summer and the hope from Anfield is that he will still join the club despite them already withdrawing their interest and apologising to his parent club after Saints accused the Reds of an illegal approach.

Chelsea are, though, confident of beating Liverpool and if they table a formal offer the gates could open.

ANTHONY MARTIAL

Tottenham will make a second offer for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial, reports TMW.

Mauricio Pochettino has made the 21-year-old his top target and have already seen an initial approach rejected by Jose Mourinho’s side.

RATING: 7/10

SPORT360 VERDICT

Martial showed his class as he lifted himself off the bench and onto the scoresheet in United’s vastly impressive 4-0 win over West Ham.

Spurs are yet to make a signing this summer and will face competition from Inter Milan but with Jose Mourinho’s preference for wingers who work hard defensively, Martial could find himself restricted to substitute roles.

If he were to force through a move to north London in search of first-team football it might be difficult for United to dissuade him otherwise.

LORENZO INSIGNE

Liverpool will try to prize away Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne if Barcelona capture Philippe Coutinho.

According to the Daily Mirror, they make a £60million offer for the 26-year-old should the Brazilian leave.

RATING: 6/10

SPORT360 VERDICT

Napoli are notoriously difficult to buy from and the Reds will face stern resistance if they turn to Insigne.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is unhappy over the Coutinho situation with fears he could destabilise the dressing room but if he does go, clubs will know they have money burning in their pocket and the Serie A side will likely ask for an extremely high fee.
