STATS: Manchester City’s John Stones leads defenders in Europe… in errors

Three seasons ago, John Stones was a highly-rated defender producing sensational performances for Everton.

Under Roberto Martinez, he was developing into one of the best young and consistent defenders in Europe with a bright future on the horizon.

It was that talent that led Pep Guardiola to make the 22-year-old one of his first signings at Manchester City.

But, as the stats show, Stones has been costing City on the pitch nearly as much as he cost their bank account.

Guardiola has always preferred ball-playing centre-backs, and Stones has certainly shown that he can be an accomplished passer and is adept at bringing the ball out from the back.

But can he cut out the mistakes that lead to City conceding goals?
