Youth – with it brings skill, pace, creativity, swiftness in decision-making and injects fresh blood into a football team.

And it is no surprise that clubs in the top-five European leagues realise its value.

Among all the top European leagues, French Ligue 1 leads the list of most appearances by players under the age of 23 for the 2016-17 season with 54, according to Squawka.

The German Bundesliga and Italy’s Serie A are then tied with 44 appearances.

La Liga has seen 34 appearances for youngsters under the age of 23 while the Premier League is last on the list, with only 27 outings.
