Lionel Messi’s injury-time penalty to secure all three points for Barcelona at Valencia sparked jubilant celebrations as you can imagine.

But the Mestalla faithful were not impressed with fans throwing bottles at the Barca stars.

Here are five other times fans have attacked players.

ERIC CANTONA

The Frenchman’s kung-fu kick lives in infamy as he leapt into the crowd at Crystal Palace following his 48th-minute dismissal before trading punches with the fan.

DEREK RIORDAN

A Hearts fan invaded the pitch and tried to attack the Hibs forward after he netted a late winner at Tynecastle in 2009 with the referee forced to split them up.

DIDA

The AC Milan stopper pathetically collapsed to the ground and was then stretched off after a Celtic fan slapped him on the shoulder in 2004.

LUIS FIGO

After the star left Barcelona for Real Madrid in 2000 he was greeted by boos in every El Classico but in 2002 he had an animal’s head throw at him.

RIO FERDINAND

The Man United defender was struck by a coin after their 3-2 win over Man City back in 2012 while Joe Hart had to stop a fan attacking him, too.
