Replays suggested referee Kim Jong Hyeok was right to send the Brazilian off, but Zenga, who claimed his side were the victims of the world’s “worst scandal” last weekend when another referee decision went against his side, didn’t agree.
“I would really like to know what the decision would have been if another team was in that situation,” the Italian said.
“All I am going to say really is that I feel that we are unlucky with refereeing decisions and that is how I am going to describe my feeling on what happened.”
While Ahli controlled most of the game, the 10 men did create a couple of chances to equalise, Habib Fardan and Bruno Cesar squandering the best at the end of the first half. And Ahli coach Aleksandar Ilic admitted he was not fully confident his side would go on and win the game without a third goal.
“At certain times Al Nasr were quite dangerous and I was always worried because we were only 2-1 up which meant if Nasr had converted one of their chances they would have got the draw,” he said. “I wanted that third goal to feel comfortable, it didn’t come but at the end of the game we won and that was a relief.”
