  • Al Ain swept to a comfortable 4-0 win over Ajman on Saturday night to open up a nine point advantage in the Pro League table.

But aside from their dominant victory and another virtuoso display from man-of-the-moment, Omar Abdulrahman, it was the manner of their fourth goal that, quite rightly, dominates the headlines.

Indeed, so good was Yousef Ahmed’s late strike that many fans are already hailing it as the greatest goal ever scored in UAE football. And it’s hard to argue.

Evoking memories of Esteban Cambiasso’s stunning effort for Argentina at the 2006 World Cup, Ahmed slots home into an empty net after a stunning 19 pass move involving EVERY Al Ain player, including goalkeeper Mahmood Al Mas.

Unsurprisingly, Abdulrahman is heavily involved in the move, but it’s very much a team goal taken straight out of Barcelona’s tiki-taka handbook as Al Ain move the ball with supreme confidence and accuracy.

A stunning effort you’ll never tire of watching.

The question is, though, is it the finest goal ever scored in the UAE? It’s certainly the best goal we’ve seen anywhere this season.
