Match referee Jeff Crowe held an informal chat with India captain Virat Kohli before the start of the third day’s play in the Birmingham Test, according to Sky Sports.

Kohli grabbed headlines on the opening day of the first Test against England after running out his counterpart Joe Root through a brilliant direct hit from the deep. Along with his usual extravagant celebrations, Kohli also mocked Root’s ‘mic-drop’ celebration following his match-winning century in the third ODI.

While there was no news about what was spoken during the informal chat, Sky Sports reported “the conversation is thought to concern his use of bad language during his celebration of the Joe Root run out on day one.”

Kohli’s use of expletives on the field has been a concern. Interestingly, Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossain recently received a reprimand from the ICC for using foul language that was picked up on the stump mic during the third ODI against the West Indies in St Kitts.
