Virat Kohli wins India’s Cricketer of the Year award for fifth time

Virat Kohli added another feather to his cap by winning India’s Cricketer of the Year award for the fifth time on Thursday.

He will receive the prestigious Polly Umrigar award, named after the ex-India captain at the BCCI function in Bangalore on June 12.

The 29-year-old was appointed the captain of the national team in 2015 and led them to top of the Test rankings the following year.

In 2016-17, he scored 1,332 runs in 13 Tests, and averaged 84.22 for his 1,516 runs in 27 ODIs.

In his six Tests in 2017-18, he scored 896 runs with an average of 89.6.
