YTCA CFI held their nerve to pull off a thrilling last-over victory over Royal Cricket Academy in the Under-19 category of the T20 Ramada Gulf Cup.

Chasing Royal’s score of 116, YTCA reached their target by four wickets to spare as Fahad Nawaz (33) and Khilesh Mamtani (30) played instrumental roles with the bat.

They were set a challenging total with Majid Khan setting the platform with a 25-run knock off 31 balls, before Shahjahan Khan (22) and Salah Shakeel (21) added valuable runs.

In the University category, Heriot Watt players were left with mixed emotions.

UAE international Chirag Suri, who was part of the U-19 World Cup squad, took 5-27 to guide Heriot to a six-wicket victory over Skyline University.

Khalid Shah gave his team the perfect start with 25, and despite Milesh Soni’s 30, Skyline were all out for 116. Heriot had little trouble chasing the target with Mohammad Nael hitting a half-century.

But Heriot were unable to add to their victory.

Coming up against Amity University, Suri was again lethal with the ball, taking two wickets.

However, Amity reached 158-7 with Jay Joshi top-scoring with 35. That total proved to be too much for Heriot and despite Suri’s 46, they were all out for 138.
