Waheed Ahmed took four wickets as Global Distribution clinched the Dulsco Ramadan T20 tournament title in style by outplaying defending champions Multiplex International by eight wickets.

After Multiplex International were restricted to 133-9 at Dubai’s Zabeel Park, Global Distribution’s Waqas Ahmed (36no) and Mohammad Salman (9no) saw the team home in the 15th over and gain revenge for their group stage defeat.

With captain Zishan Khan opting to bat first, Multiplex made a good start with openers Zishan Khan (27) and Sapandeep Singh (25) blasting their way to 56 before both fell in the same over bowled by Ahmed, who also sent new man Ali Zishan (1) back to the pavilion.

With Multiplex at 58-3, except for Aklaq Butt, none of the later order batsmen showed any resistance against the sustained pressure from Global Distribution bowlers.

With a not so daunting target to chase, Waqas Ahmed and Yakoob Richi started in bright fashion.

Richi cracked a boundary and hit six sixes in his belligerent 45 off 18 balls before falling to Imran Haider.

Mohammed Hussain, who came in after Richi’s exit, then upped the pace, blasting four sixes on his way to a 14-ball 32 before becoming Haider’s second wicket at 104 in the 10th over.

Waqas and Salman hit the winning runs to eventually seal victory.

Champions Global Distribution walked away with Dh5000 while Multiplex International took the Dh2500 prize.
