Local talent to showcase skills in UAE’s Legend Cricket League

The first season of Legend Cricket League, which will showcase the best UAE cricket talent during Ramadan, will begin on June 25th at Ajman Oval Ground.

The inaugural LCL is highly anticipated in the region and is expected to contribute to Dubai's evolution as a cricketing hub. The championship will offer total prize money of AED 60,000.

From June 25thh until July 22, LCL Season 1 will host 12 teams in a league championship format.  Each team must have at least one legend in the playing eleven who is over 40 years of age.

Mr. Anil Kumar, General Secretary of Willows Cricket Club and Director of LCL, said: “LCL is one of the premier cricketing events in Dubai which supports local talent and contributes to the building the reputation of the city. We are confident of bringing some amazing cricket talents to the spotlight.”

Mr. Tariq Bhatt, Official Umpire of LCL added: “LCL Season 1 will be focusing on highlighting talent from UAE and provide them the platform to demonstrate their skills, the championship also adds to the city’s credentials in building cricketing skills at the grassroots level.”

Ms. Samiksha Naik, Director of LCL said: “It is an immense pleasure to congratulate all the participating teams of LCL as it marks the season 1. An event such as LCL plays an important role in our annual sports calendar as well as in supporting local talent. It also intensifies our goal of developing a strong sports culture in the Middle East.”

Each match at LCL 2014 will be of 20 overs and will be played from 8 PM to 1 AM. The teams will be divided into three groups with four teams in each. A total of 23 matches will be played including 18 league matches.
