The UAE have two bites of the cherry to qualify for the 2020 T20 World Cup, starting with the Netherlands today at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Somehow the hosts have overcome a heap of adversity over the last two weeks, with several of their cricketers facing charges from the ICC’s anti-corruption unit.

Stand-in captain Ahmed Raza has rallied his troops to reach the T20 World Qualifier playoffs on home soil – they are one win away from reaching the 2020 showpiece in Australia, though they will get a second chance should they fail to beat the Netherlands later this week.
