The Indian all-rounder will join England Test captain Alastair Cook in the MCC squad, skippered by Nick Compton for the annual competition.

Lancashire, Yorkshire and Sussex are the other teams featuring in the tournament at 7he Sevens Stadium on March 20.

The 33-year-old, who last featured in a Twenty20 match for India in April 2014, is renowned for his hard-hitting and enjoyed success in the shortest format over the game. He won the 2007 T20 World Cup, where he famously smashed six sixes in one over bowled by England fast-bowler Stuart Broad.

His international record in the format stands at 968 runs from 40 matches with 23 wickets. He replicated that form in the
one-day internationals, striking 13 centuries en route to accumulating 8,239 runs from 293 matches.

The 2011 World Cup winner, who scored a century for the Rest of the World XI against MCC in Lord’s Bicentenary match in August, said: “I am very excited about being part of the squad for this tournament, and I’d like to thank MCC for offering me the chance to play out in Dubai again.

“There are some great players in the squad so we stand a good chance of winning the competition. I’ve got fond memories of playing against MCC in the Lord’s Bicentenary match last year. I’m delighted to be involved with the Club again.”

John Stephenson, MCC head of cricket, is thrilled to have Yuvraj, who struck three centuries for Punjab this season in the Ranji Trophy, on board.

“I’m very happy to have secured Yuvraj for this tournament, with the help of Sport Arabia Worldwide,” Stephenson said.

“His record speaks for itself and the fact that he has agreed to be involved speaks volumes for the competition’s status in cricket.

“I’m sure he will provide plenty of entertainment for the crowd and I’m looking forward to seeing him in MCC colours.”

The T20 tournament precedes the Champion County match between MCC and Yorkshire on March 22 at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. For more informtaion, visit the tournament's official website.
