Ali’s 116-run knock was the third century of the series after Alubond Tigers’ Hasan Raza and Ijaz Bashir of Al Fara’a achieved the feat.

Resuming play at 97-2, and trailing by 117 runs, Danube Lions lost overnight batsman Fakhar Zaman, who had smashed a half-century (58) and Adnan Mufti (15).

The Lions’ batsmen continued to struggle with the bat with UAE international Andri Berenger only managing eight with his side reeling at 141-5.

But Abid and Samiullah Younis gave Danube some hope by putting on an impressive 137-run partnership to give his team a big lead.

Samiullah struck 61 before being dismissed while the skipper soon followed him back to the pavilion as Danube declared at 337-8 in 89 overs.

Nasir Aziz was the pick of the bowling after finishing with figures of 3-92 while Sheraz Ahmed claimed 2-47.

With a target of 221 and with only 27 overs remaining for the day, Alubond Tigers decided to take play safe and eventually settled for the draw. But they were in danger of losing the match as five wickets fell before the day’s end of play, with only 125 runs on the scoreboard.

Saqib Khan top-scored for Tigers with a 41-run knock with Aamir Hayat, who claimed five wickets in the first innings, continuing his impressive form by removing the top three batsmen.

Emaad Ali claimed two conceding just 37 runs with former Pakistan international Hasan Raza reaching 32.

After the second round matches, Alubond Tigers top the standings with 56 points, with the hosts in second place (36). GMW Royal is third position with 25 points while Al Fara’a are bottom with 18 points.
