The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the Emirates Cricket Board chief executive David East, cited concerns about the legality of the pair’s respective bowling actions.

Salman and Shahzad will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

Both are required to undergo testing within 21 days and during this period, both are permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.

The news will come as a blow to UAE coach Aaqib Javed who is preparing his team for only their second 50-over World Cup in their history.

Javed’s side take on Afganistan in the fourth match of the five game series at ICC Academy tomorrow. They start their World Cup campaign in earnest as of February 11 against hosts Australia at Sydney in their first of two warm up matches.

UAE then take on Afghanistan at the same venue two days later before their first Pool B outing against Zimbabwe on 19 February.
