Thousands to attend Sprite Cricket Stars tournament in Abu Dhabi

The Asian community across the UAE are preparing for the largest grassroots cricket championship this weekend.

Under the patronage of the Ministry of Labour and in partnership with Coca-Cola Middle East, Sprite Cricket Stars tournament will culminate in style at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium on Friday, 28th November 2014.

This year the momentous Finals event is set to be bigger than ever before, with live entertainment from numerous performers, free food and beverages and a chance to be crowned Sprite Cricket Stars Champions for one lucky team.

The final matches will take place in front of an anticipated crowd of thousands as well as Pakistani cricket legend Shoaib Akhtar. Entrance is free and everyone is invited to take part in the festivities.

Making Sprite Cricket Stars history, Sprite has created an opportunity for fans to try and win AED 100,000 by batting against Shoaib Akhtar on the crease.

Hit this amazing player for a six and win! There will also be a raffle draw where you can several other prizes such as TVs, phones, gold coins and other prizes.

The Finals event will also see a final match of Sprite’s partner SmartLife Foundation’s cricket tournament ‘Smart Cup’ as a part of the day’s entertainment. 

The play-off stages of the tournament, where the Asian populations competed alongside labourers, took place over the last 6 months at numerous grounds across the UAE, including the Home of Sprite Cricket Stars, Sprite INSPORTZ, and featured over 225 players.

The Sprite Cricket Stars program continues to flourish, and has involved over 330,000 people so far, as the whole Asian community are given a chance to put their differences aside and connect with their brothers from neighboring cricket loving nations such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, living in UAE.

 to live their passion for a sport which is so close to their hearts. It also gives them a platform where they can rub shoulders with their fellow countrymen from different, strata of the society and different walks of life.

The winning Sprite Cricket Stars team will receive AED 50,000 in prize money, with the runners-up receiving AED 25,000.
