Bukhatir XI added another A Division Cup to their trophy cabinet after defeating One Stop Tourism to clinch the Gold Cup.
Chasing 198 in 25 overs after Mohammad Ikram scored an unbeaten 102 at The Sevens, Dubai, Bukhatir reached their target in the 22nd over after an impressive partnership from Adnan Mufti (42no) and Rizwan CP (54no).
With Zawar Fareed (34), Khalid Shah (33) and Chirag Suri (28) dismissed and with the score 124-3, Mufti and Rizwan came together with a vital unbeaten 76-run stand.
The result meant Bukhatir were celebrating another title success following their victory in Ajman earlier in the season and UAE international Mufti praised the team’s owner Khalaf Bukhatir for his support.
“It’s great to be part of the winning side,” said Mufti, who was part of the UAE squad that competed in the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe.
“We all worked together as a team for this win. Almost all the team is under the age of 28 and this trophy would not have been possible without Khalaf Bukhatir who is a firm supporter of promoting young talent and giving them opportunities to play in domestic cricket in the UAE,” added the batsman, who is the oldest at 33-years-old.
