The UAE had Adnan Mufti to thank for after his heroic century saw them end their World Cricket League campaign with a 63-run victory over Nepal on Friday.

On a day where the UAE batsmen really struggled with five of the top six batsmen failing to reach double figures, Mufti entered the crease at 39-5 and delivered when it really mattered to score his first ton in a List A 50-over match.

At the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, he scored 104 runs, including eight boundaries and three sixes off his 89 balls while vital 37 from Mohammad Bootha saw them score 195.

Ultimately, Mufti’s score proved to be the difference as Nepal were all out for 132 with Amjad Javed the pick of the bowlers with 3-23.

The result saw the hosts leapfrog Nepal into sixth position following Wednesday’s victory and Mufti was delighted to have made the difference for a winning cause.

“You know I’ve been in this situation so many times now,” said the No.7 batsman.

“In my very first game, I did that and every time we have a batting collapse, I’m in the same situation. Now I’m used to this and it was my day because every shot I played it came off.”

The 32-year-old added: “I knew the Nepal bowlers were doing really well but we needed some runs on the board and I just wanted to adjust to the wicket for the first three overs and then play aggressively. We rotated the strike and it was my plan to play each ball as it comes and play it well. It paid off and happy to have scored my century.”
