Butt stars in Al Faraa win over Unicon at Sharjah Ramadan Cup

Al Faraa beat Unicon Real Estate by 42 runs in the Aseel Islamic Finance 26th Sharjah Ramadan Cup 2014 Twenty20 Tournament at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Choosing to bat first, Al Faraa amassed 151 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Adnan Butt was the top scorer with a fine 37-ball 34 consisting of two boundaries and a six while Tahir Mughal and Faisan Asif made significant contributions with quickfire knocks of 29 and 25 respectively.

Shahzad Malik smashed 25 from as many balls while Baber Bashir was 12 not out from eight balls. For Unicon, Asad Ansari and Maaz Ansari claimed two wickets each.

In reply, Unicon lost four wickets with just 35 runs on the board, with both Sajjad Ahmed (12) and Naseeb Gul (13) failing to make big contributions after good starts.

With Unicon in a spot of bother, Zeeshan Akmal ignited some hopes with a 19-ball 36. Abu Bakkar took 12 balls for his 22 runs. But with wickets tumbling at regular intervals, Unicon were shot out for 109 in 18.2 overs.

Mujahid Amin was the successful bowler for Al Faraa pocketing three wickets in his four overs while Fayyaz Ahmed and Imran Maqsood bagged two wickets.

Easy victory for Phoenix

Phoenix Medicine beat Al Faraa by seven wickets in the 6th Al Dhaid Ramadan Tournament at Al Dhaid Cricket Village.

Chasing 102 for victory, Phoenix lost their first wicket cheaply after Hafiz Kassim departed for just eight. Rohan Mustafa hit two boundaries and a six for his 19 from just 10 balls to put Phoenix Medicine back on track.

Mohammad Rizwan was unbeaten on 29 from 36 deliveries while Shoaib Lagari smashed a 25-ball 36 as Phoenix Medicine got past the target in the 14th over.

Huzruk stars for Jumeirah

Faizal Huzruk helped Jumeirah Group salvage some pride in their final group game with an unbeaten 58 in a seven-wicket victory over Brookfield Multiplex in the 13th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground in Dubai.

Jumeirah Group restricted Brookfield Multiplex to 112 for 8 in 20 overs and then overhauled the target losing three wickets with 14 balls to spare, to taste their first victory from three matches in Group B.

For Brookfield Multiplex, this was their second consecutive defeat and now play their final group match this week.

Carfare and Cricket Maxway have already made it to the quarterfinal from Group B. All the matches will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis of 20 overs each.
