Shaiman Anwar struck the first UAE century in T20Is to seal a series win over Papua New Guinea on Friday morning in Abu Dhabi.

Having won the first match on Wednesday, UAE secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the first of two games of a double header that concludes the series.

It means UAE has notched five wins from six and sealed a series clean sweep of wins across ODIs, the Intercontinental Cup and the T20Is.

And this latest _-run win came courtesy of Shaiman’s brilliance with the bat that sees the right-hander once again lay a flag in the ground for UAE cricket.

It was Shaiman that became the country’s first centurion at a World Cup back in February, 2015 against Ireland and he’s now followed that up with a first T20I ton for the country.

Coming off 68 balls, Shaiman’s 117 not out included ten fours and six sixes as he steered UAE to 180-3 from their 20 overs having been put into bat first.

It is UAE’s highest score in a T20I, eclipsing their previous best of 179-4 against Afghanistan in December last year.

A superb start to the day for UAE was completed when they wrapped up the PNG innings with the final ball of the match, bowling the visitors out for 150.

Amjad Javed (3-38) made the early inroads before the excellent Mohammad Naveed completed the rout with 3-18 that mopped up the tail and handed UAE the series.
