UAE’s Imran Haider has warned Papua New Guinea (PNG) to expect a tough time at the crease with the leg-spinner eyeing more wickets in Tuesday’s final ODI.

The series is all square at 1-1 following the southwestern Pacific outfit’s 26-run victory on Sunday after UAE drew first blood 48 hours earlier.

While those matches counted towards the World Cricket League Championship, today’s meeting at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium is a chance for both teams to clinch the series.

Haider has been in exceptional form during the past two matches, taking six wickets so far.

And the 29-year-old is eager to add to that tally and play a big part in clinching the series.

“I’m happy with my performances as I have taken six wickets,” he said. “There’s still one more game to play and I’m eager to take many more. I am really confident and let’s see what happens during the game.”

Haider admits the team was left hurt after throwing away the match from a winning position. They lost five wickets for 13 runs on Sunday.

“It was disappointing to have lost the game like the way we did,” he lamented. “It was a bad result but that’s now in the past and it’s important that we learn from those mistakes to ensure we don’t do them again.”

The UAE have already won one ODI series this year in the tri-series against Hong Kong and Scotland, and Haider believes that will give them confidence they can do it again. “For sure that will help us. We just have to play well for the full 100 overs and get the win.” he said.
