Hafeez Kaleem smashed a century as Phoenix Medicine secured a 114-run win over Al Badar CC in 40th Bukhatir League ‘A’ Division Tournament at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Electing to bat first, Phoenix Medicine openers Kaleem and Khalid Lathif shared a 178-run stand, the runs coming off just 20 overs.

Kaleem smashed 12 sixes and eight boundaries for his 143 off just 92 balls, while Lathif totalled 74 from 58 deliveries.

Adil Mirza scored a patient 44 from 55 balls while Shoaib Laghari smashed 28 from 20 balls as Phoenix Medicines amassed 350 from 44.4 overs.

For Al Badar, Leon Carlo claimed five wickets but was far too expensive, conceding 69 runs from his 8.4 overs.

Chasing the huge target, Al Badar openers made a positive start but found it difficult to keep up with the run rate.

Zahir Aslam scored 16 off 38 balls while Sumeet Keshavan faced 80 balls for his 60 runs.

A 40-ball 31 from Saqib Khan kept the scoreboard ticking but, with the required run rate rising, the pressure finally got to the Al Badar batsmen as Mohammad Qassim ran through the middle order.

Ryan Pinto smashed a quickfire 28-ball 43, consisting of two boundaries and four sixes and Leon Carlo scored 21 from 26 balls, managing to delay the inevitable before Qassim picked off the pair to claim a five-wicket haul as Al Badar were bowled out for 236 in 47.1 overs.

Asif Mumtaz did the majority of the damage from the other end, taking four wickets from his 10 overs at the expense of just 27 runs.
