Representing the UAE in the T20 showpiece event, the Dubai-based team fell to a 101-defeat to hosts – Business Management School (BMS).

BMS had earlier set an imposing total of 217, thanks largely to a superb century by Shehan S N Jayasuriya (101). And the target proved to be too much for Heriot-Watt with former UAE Under-19 international Suri the stand-out batsman with 50 (seven fours and one six).

He was one of three batsmen to reach double figures as Heriot-Watt were restricted to 115-9.

It was the second consecutive loss for Heriot-Watt after their seven- wicket defeat to Pakistan’s University of Central Punjab on Monday and Suri admits Jayasuriya’s huge knock took the game away.

“Disappointed that we have exited the tournament in the group stage but Jayasuriya really played execptionally well,” said the former UAE Under-19 batsman.

“The bowlers did not really do much wrong and he just played the right shots at the right time. When you’re chasing above 200, it’s really difficult and you need a good start and unfortunately we didn’t have that today.”

Suri, whose team will play their final match today against India’s MMCC College, added: “It’s a good feeling to get runs and hopefully I can continue scoring big.”
