Defending Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Islamabad United have added West Indies’ Chadwick Walton to the squad as a replacement for the injured Ian Bell.

Walton will become the sixth foreign player in the Islamabad squad and will be available for the remainder of the 2019 edition.

A wicketkeeper batsman by trade, Walton had played for Islamabad in the 2018 edition of the PSL as well. The 33-year-old has so far played two Tests, nine ODIs and 19 T20Is for the West Indies in his international career with his last appearance coming against Bangladesh in a T20 clash last year.

Islamabad United are grappling with the loss of Bell who aggravated his leg injury in his side’s win against Peshawar Zalmi. The veteran English batsman has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament although he will stay on with the team for the upcoming two clashes.

While Bell in injured, Islamabad are also having to make do without the services of Afghanistan pacer Zahir Khan for the early stages of the tournament. Zahir is currently on national team duty with the Afghans in their ongoing clashes against Ireland at Dehradun.

Islamabad are currently in third spot in the PSL table at the halfway stage with three wins and two losses so far from their five matches. The defending champions will be in action on Tuesday at Dubai when they take on Multan Sultans.

While Walton is expected to join up with the squad immediately, the West Indies man is unlikely to be available in time for the clash against Multan.
