The match between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators in Dubai on Friday saw the hugely talented West Indian all-rounder Jofra Archer in action. The 22-year-old from Barbados is the hottest property in T20 cricket at the moment and each of his performances in T20 leagues across the world is watched keenly by fans and franchise owners.

His opening effort for Quetta on Friday was a bit of a mixed bag. Here we take a look at his effort with the ball and bat during his team’s 19-run defeat in the Pakistan Super League.

ARCHER WITH THE BALL

First over (over No2): Took his time to get going. Hit for two boundaries – to square leg and through covers – in an unimpressive start.

Second over (over No6): Pace well and truly up. Hurries Babar Azam with a short bowl hurled at close to 144kph, finding the top edge.

Third over (over No17): Deceives Ravi Bopara with a back-of-the-hand slower one. Concedes a boundary off an ordinary piece of fielding at mid-off but gets the wicket of Colin Ingram through a well-directed bouncer that takes the batsman’s glove before ballooning off his helmet to fine leg.

Fourth over (over No19): Completely deceives Shahid Afridi with a slower delivery. Then bangs one in short at high pace to the left-handed Imad Wasim who gets an edge off a ramp shot to be caught behind. Final analysis: 4-0-30-2.

ARCHER WITH THE BAT

Comes in to bat in the last over of the match with 28 needed to win on a tough wicket. Hits a boundary off the second ball he faces but the match is well beyond Quetta by this point. Final score: Five off four balls.
