Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was on fire in the Caribbean Premier League but his heroics weren’t enough as his team St Kitts and Nevis Patriots lost to Guyana Amazon Warriors by six wickets.

Batting first, the Patriots scored 146-5 in their 20 overs with opener Chris Gayle smashing 86 from 65 balls without much help from the other end.

In reply, the Warriors were pegged back early as the Patriots took two wickets inside the first two overs. But a fine unbeaten 79 from Shimron Hetmyer took his team past the finish line as the Warriors reached 148-4 in 16.3 overs.

For 18-year-old leg-spinner Lamichhane, however, it was a memorable game. He ended up with excellent figures of 2-12 from his four overs and did not concede a single boundary.

He got the scalps of opener Chadwick Walton and middle order batsman Jason Mohammed to give his team a shot at victory, but it wasn’t to be.
