After five months of cricket, DPS Sharjah and Abu Dhabi Indian School are now just one win away from lifting the inaugural Sport360 National School League (NSL)  title.

The two sides meet at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Saturday as they face off for the right to be the first team to get their hands on the coveted silverware.

Both teams have beaten strong opposition in the group and knock-out stages and the final looks set to be a closely-fought encounter.

There will be an extra incentive with the winners qualifying for the Emirates Airlines Under-16 ARCH Cup, to be played in the UAE in March and April.

It will be the first time the two sides have met in the competition and DPS Sharjah coach Vikram Dutt insists whichever team performs best on the day will win.

He said: “I’ve not seen them (Abu Dhabi Indian School) play but I feel it’s better we’ve not seen them play previously  because I feel whoever bats, bowls and fields well on the day will win the title.

“Our past form doesn’t matter either, it’s how we do on Saturday.”

His team beat DPS Falcons by 51 runs in the semi-finals in a superb all-round performance to maintain their unbeaten record.

Dutt has Menon Devnath in his team, with the all-rounder leading his side’s statistics with 128 runs and 12 wickets.

His opposite number, SB Dey, coach of Abu Dhabi Indian School, has an idea of how DPS Sharjah will play and is looking to exploit what he feels could be weaknesses.

“We came early before our semi-finals to see how DPS Sharjah played and we now have a strategy in place which we will put to the test on Saturday.

The team made major strides throughout the competition, shocking an unbeaten PAK Eagles team in the quarter-finals, before a comfortable 10-wicket win over DIA Wolves in the semi-finals.

Dey will have talented all-rounder Jonathan Figy available, who is the leading run-scorer with 250.
