Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma can’t explain what is causing his team’s run of defeats and admits he is running out of ideas as his team look to stop the slide against the Royal Challengers Bangalore today.

Mumbai have lost all four of their matches and have tried various combinations to sort it out, be it batting or bowling, but nothing seems to be working.

“We have tried to play five bowlers and changed the batting order in the last four games. I don’t know what else to do to get the combination right,” Rohit bemoaned.

But the one thing the Mumbai batsman is confident about is the utility of pace bowler Lasith Malinga. The Sri Lankan pacer has picked up four wickets at a shade under nine runs an over. That’s nowhere close to his best but Rohit feels it’s just a matter of time before the quick hits the straps.

“Malinga is a little down. But a guy like him needs just one game to come back to form. The year we won the IPL (2013), he was not there for the first 7-8 games. We knew what kind of bowler he is – over the years for his country and for Mumbai Indians – and he came up with the winning spell against Chennai in the final.

“We believe in him, it’s just a matter of one game. We all know his strength,” said Sharma.

The next challenge for Mumbai and Rohit is Bangalore, who started off with a fine win against Kolkata Knight Riders but sank to a crushing defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Even so, their batting line of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers will pose a serious threat for Mumbai bowlers.
