Chennai Super Kings won the 11th edition of the IPL at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai after Shane Watson scored a superb century against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Watson hit an unbeaten 117 as Chennai chased down the target of 179 with nine balls to spare.

Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl first in the tournament decider. For Chennai, spinner Karn Sharma came in for Harbhajan Singh as the only change. For Sunrisers, Sandeep Sharma came in for pacer Khaleel Ahmed.

Yusuf Pathan provided Sunrisers with the late fireworks as he remained unbeaten on 45 (25) to take his side to 178-6 in 20 overs.

In reply, Chennai’s openers started in slow fashion before Faf Du Plessis was dismissed by Sandeep Sharma for 10 runs. After that, Watson and Suresh Raina took charge.
