09:31am – Kolkata Knight Riders end Rajasthan Royals’ IPL campaign

In the Eliminator clash of the IPL last night, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Rajasthan Royals by 25 runs at Eden Gardens. Batting first.

The Knight Riders put up a very gettable 169-7 on the boards (thanks to a late flourish from Andre Russell – 49 off 25) before the Royals, who were in a superb position at 1-109 after 14 overs, simply faded away.

Rajasthan scored just 35 runs off the last 36 balls to finish on 4-144 in their 20 overs, with the main culprit Heinrich Klaasen who scored a turtle-like 18 runs off 18 balls, just when RR needed to open up.

Read more about how this curious clash panned out in our talking points.

KKR now face the impressive Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday night for a place in the IPL final while the Rajasthan players probably have a day off before jetting off to their next cricketing engagements around the globe.
