10:57am –  D-Day in IPL

It’s the final day of the preliminary rounds in IPL 11 and one playoff spot is up for grabs. Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have all guaranteed their spot in the top four with Rajasthan Royals currently in the final playoff position.

But a win by any margin for the Mumbai Indians over bottom-dwellers Delhi Daredevils would see them displace the Royals and book a playoff spot for the second straight year. Read our preview of Mumbai v Delhi here.

Mumbai Indians look set to pull off another great escape.

For Kings XI their task is far more difficult. Firstly they must hope Mumabi fail to overcome the Daredevils. Then they must beat Chennai Super Kings in the late game – but even that will not be enough.

Due to their poor net run-rate (NRR) Ravi Ashwin’s side must defeat Chennai Super Kings by a margin of more than 53+ runs if they bat first. Or if KXIP is asked to chase down a target, then they have to ensure that they get past the winning total in 13.4 overs or 82 balls.

It’s a big ask but if Chris Gayle has an on day – anything is possible. Read our match preview for Punjab v Chennai here.
