The Indian Premier League [IPL], over the years, has given an opportunity to a lot of young Indian talents to make a name for themselves and Nitish Rana is the latest to come into the limelight.

The Mumbai Indians, chasing 177 against the Gujarat Lions, were in a spot of bother after losing Parthiv Patel without a run on the board.

In came Rana and the 23-year-old was lucky early on in his innings as he was dropped by Jason Roy when he was on nine. The drop proved to be costly for the Lions as the left-handed batsman made use of the opportunity that was presented to him.

Rana went on to score 53 from just 36 deliveries in a knock which included four fours and two sixes. This was his second half-century in this season’s IPL.

Unsurprisingly, Rana was named the Player of the Match as Mumbai won the contest by six wickets.

With 193 runs to his name in the tournament so far, Rana currently holds the Orange Cap as the leading run-scorer which is a huge indication of his brilliant form with the bat considering the world-class batsmen that are part of the IPL.
