Virat Kohli believes his team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, will break the title drought this season in the Indian Premier League.

The Royal Challengers came close to lifting the trophy twice in 2009 and 2011 but had to settle for the runners-up slot while the last two seasons have not been all that encouraging as they failed to make the play-offs.

However, captain Kohli expects his team to go all the distance this season.

The squad has been bolstered with the addition of Yuvraj Singh and South African all-rounder Albie Morkel.

“This time around we will hope to go few more steps ahead and actually get that trophy,” Kohli said in Mumbai yesterday.

“We have added a few more quality players in the side and I am sure we will come through with flying colours.

“We try every year to win and we have a strong team. We will try to win the trophy because we have got a good combination this time and we will try to utilise it.

“We have a great team, great bunch of guys ready to perform well. We do well every year, we excite a lot of people in the IPL.”

The 25-year-old, on a high after being named the player of the tournament in the recently-concluded World Twenty20, feels the IPL provides a good atmosphere for cricket.

“The more we enjoy cricket, it will be that much better in IPL. In IPL there is a lot of enjoyment of players. Everybody is relaxed coming from international schedule. There is a good atmosphere.”

The Royal Challengers play their first match against Delhi Daredevils on April 17 in Sharjah.
