In what could be a severe blow to the Kings XI Punjab’s plans of reviving their campaign, Shaun Marsh has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury he suffered to his back during the game against Kolkata on 19 April.

Although Marsh scored 56* in that game, it is believed that he played on with a niggle and has continued to be a part of the Punjab playing XI ever since.

Marsh now joins his younger brother Mitchell and national skipper, Steve Smith as the third Australian to have been ruled out of this year’s IPL.

In the six games he has played for his side, Marsh averages the highest with 159 runs at 31.80.

Others to have gotten injured this season include the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Faf du Plessis, Lasith Malinga, John Hastings and Samuel Badree.
