Kevin Pietersen insists the Rising Pune Supergiants are keen on improving their performance with every game despite having mixed fortunes in the Indian Premier League so far.

The debutants have won and lost a game each and will be taking on the winless Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on Sunday. Pietersen believes momentum is key in Twenty20 but the unpredictable nature of the format makes it difficult to get it working in their favour everytime.

“We are just going to worry about what we do. It doesn’t matter what the opposition do. T20 cricket is about momentum and when it is with you, it is good; when it is against you it’s not so good. How that works I don’t know,” Pietersen said on Saturday. “No one can really put a finger on how you can change momentum, but every ball is an event happening in T20 cricket.

“They (Punjab) have got brilliant players in their team. So on any given day anybody can take you apart in a T20 fixture. We are going to make sure that we are on our game more than we were on our game yesterday or the day before.”
