England have recruited former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori to help bring through their next generation of talented spinners.

– UAE: Misbah and Cook sure spin will be key

Vettori, who took 705 international wickets in Test, one-day and Twenty20 matches, and was considered one of the best spin bowlers in the world, will join the England Performance Programme for 10 days in November.

The left-arm Kiwi retired in March and has since coached Indian Premier League side Royal Challengers Bangalore, as well as Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.

As part of the EPP batting and spin group heading to Dubai, Vettori will work with Surrey all-rounder Zafar Ansari, new Sussex signing Danny Briggs, Essex's Tom Westley and Lancashire's Stephen Parry.

Spinners Ravi Patel, Will Beer and Matt Carter will also be accompanying the EPP squad to the UAE in a net bowling capacity.

Peter Such, the EPP's lead spin bowling coach, said: "Daniel has been one of the most successful and respected spinners in world cricket for almost two decades, so we are delighted to add his considerable experience to the England Performance Programme this winter.

"I am sure that the players will benefit from working with him for the 10 days that he is with the EPP in November."

Spin is likely to prove crucial as England begin a three-match Test series against Pakistan on Tuesday, but Alastair Cook's side have struggled in that department since Graeme Swann retired in December 2013.

All-rounder Moeen Ali has been Cook's preferred slow bowler, but England are likely to select two spinners against Pakistan, with Yorkshire's Adil Rashid set to make his Test debut in Abu Dhabi.
