A torrential downpour during the early afternoon lead to a waterlogged outfield and despite the best efforts of the groundstaff, play was called off at around 21h30 local time.

The match referee and umpires convened several times to inspect the pitch and conditions, but too much water had seeped into various spots on the outfield and the decision was taken to call the game off.

JP Duminy announced as the Man of the Series and the teams now move into the five-match ODI series, the first of which is in Kanpur on Sunday.
