England all-rounder Moeen Ali warned up for the forthcoming Test series against Pakistan with a three wicket haul on day two of the drawn match with Pakistan 'A' at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

England had declared at their first day's score of 286 for five and the Pakistan second-string looked set to make a game of it with Iftikhar Ahmed and Fawad Alam making 92 and 55 respectively.

Alam scored at a glacial pace with just seven boundaries in a 147-ball knock. However Ali dismissed Alam with an expert off-spin delivery before sending Khurram Manzoor (16) and Ali Asad (seven) back to the pavilion.

Ahmed, ironically best known for his domestic T20 exploits, could only muster hit five fours and two sixes during his 209-ball stay at the crease.

Pace bowlers James Anderson and Mark Wood both finished with one wicket while Stuart Broad failed to remove any batsmen in 11 overs.

Perhaps of more conern for England will be the lack of wickets from Adil Rashid's 20 overs. The leg-spinner was earmarked as a potential game-winner in the UAE conditions for the visitors but could not generate turn on the dusty track.

England have another two-day warm-up game, against the same opposition at the same venues on October 8 and 9, before the first Test.

The two other tests are in Dubai (October 22-26) and Sharjah (November 1-5).
