Kevin Pietersen believes the upcoming Pakistan Super League will be a “wonderful competition” while confirming his involvement in the Twenty20 event on Sunday.

Pietersen’s video message was revealed during the unveiling of the PSL logo in Lahore with the ignored England superstar expressing his delight at playing in the Twenty20 league scheduled to be held in February  4-20, 2016, most likely here in the UAE.

“Absolutely buzzing to be a part of the Pakistani mela (carnival) coming up in February,” he said.

“I can’t wait to get it started. It looks like it is going to be a wonderful competition. Lots of fun, lots of sixes, lots of wickets, typical T20 stuff.

“I am really excited to be a part of this wonderful tournament and excited to get going. I will see you guys soon.”

The financial details of the tie-up between PSL and Pietersen are still under wraps with ESPNcricinfo indicating no deal has been finalised as yet but the star batsman has reportedly agreed to play in the inaugural season.

Five franchise-based teams from the provincial capitals of Pakistan – Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi – will feature in the first season of PSL with the winners being rewarded $1 million.

The PSL launch had its share of controversy with Younis Khan claiming he was not invited for the event. “It doesn’t matter to me at this stage of my career but it is disappointing not being invited for the PSL launch after having served Pakistan cricket for so long,” Khan told Geo Super TV channel.
