Steve Waugh’s Australian side was an unstoppable force at the start of the century. Going into the third Ashes Test at Nottingham, they were already 2-0 up.

They started off on a strong note, dismissing England for 185 with Glenn McGrath picking up five wickets.

Though they were themselves bowled out for 190 with Alex Tudor snaring a five-for, the Aussies hit back by bowling the hosts out for another low score – 162 – to set themselves a victory target of 158.

In the chase, which was undertaken on this day 14 years back – Australia eased home with Mark Waugh unbeaten on 42 to retain the Ashes and complete their seventh straight Test win.
