It has been an Australian summer to forget for Aaron Finch but the opening batsman does not need any extra motivation to prepare for his team’s upcoming limited-overs tour of India.

Australia are due to take on India in two T20s and a five-match ODI series on their limited-overs tour and skipper Finch is under no illusion about the magnitude of the task at hand for his men.

“I don’t think you need anything to put a pep in your step when you’re going on an Aussie tour, particularly to India,” Finch told cricket.com.au.

“If you are slightly off the mark, you are going to get hurt. They (India) are the best side in one-day cricket in their own conditions, I think. So you’ve got to go there full of confidence and have a real clear game plan,” the right-handed batsman added.

The Aussies were handed a 1-2 defeat by India in the ODI series held at their own backyard in January this year with Finch’s own personal form coming under scrutiny.

The Australia limited-overs captain has been off-colour with the bat for some time now and has already been dropped from the Test squad following his poor displays.

A summer to forget for Aaron Finch.

Things went from bad to worse for Finch on Sunday in the Big Bash League (BBL) final despite his team Melbourne Renegades getting their hands on the title.

Finch was dismissed for 13 after being run-out at the non-striker’s end while backing up and took out his frustration by thrashing a plastic chair with his bat on the way back to the dressing room.

The top-order batsman was subsequently reprimanded by Cricket Australia for a level one breach of the Code of Conduct.

“It just about sums up my summer,” said Finch as he looked back on that incident.

Australia are due to arrive in India soon with the first T20 between the two sides set to take place at Visakhapatnam on February 24.
