Tim Seifert blasted 84 as New Zealand condemned India to their heaviest ever T20 international defeat.

The wicket-keeper, who was dropped twice, hit six sixes and seven fours in a 43-ball blitz before being bowled by Khaleel Ahmed as he and fellow opener Colin Munro put on 86 for the first wicket in Wellington.

Like Munro, skipper Kane Williamson scored 34 as the Black Caps finished on 219 for six, and the tourists were up against it from the off as top two Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan departed within the first six overs.

Indeed, India had slumped to 77 for six by the final ball of the 11th over with Dhawan’s 29 and 27 from Vijay Shankar the only significant contributions.

MS Dhoni and Krunal Pandya belatedly provided some resistance with knocks of 39 and 20 respectively, but they failed to bat out their 20 overs and fell 80 runs short as they were all out for 139 with four balls remaining.

Tim Southee led the way with three for 17 and there were also two-wicket hauls for Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi.
