Teenage Indian pacer Rex Singh entered himself into an exclusive club of bowlers to have picked up all 10 wickets in an innings through his efforts in an U19 Cooch-Behar Trophy four-day game at Anantpur.

The left-armed Manipur pacer put on an exhibition of swing bowling to end with remarkable figures of 10-11 from his 9.5 overs. The 18-year-old’s feat helped Manipur to a comprehensive win as Arunachal Pradesh for just 36 runs in their second innings.

Getting the ball to tail back in sharply into the right-handers, Singh managed to dismantle the stumps of the five of his 10 victims. The teenager’s extraordinary feat drew plenty of praise on social media after the video of his exploits went viral.

“This Manipur boy claimed 10 wickets with his smooth action and beautiful inswingers,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted.

“This young boy from Manipur who took 10 wickets in an innings reminds one of Irfan Pathan,” Moulin Parikh, a BCCI communication team member, tweeted.

The Manipur pacer’s feat is not the first time a bowler has picked up all 10 wickets in an innings in India’s domestic circuit this season.

Earlier, Puducherry left-arm spinner Sidak Singh picked up 10 wickets in an innings against Manipur in a CK Nayudu U23 Trophy.

In Test cricket, the feat has only been attained twice in history. England’s Jim Laker was the first to do so when he picked up 10-53 in 1956 before India leg-spinner Anil Kumble took 10-74 against Pakistan in 1999.
