Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is writing to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take official reassessment of suspended Mohammad Hafeez at the Brisbane High Performance Centre in Australia which is an ICC accredited lab on testing of suspected bowling actions.

The national selection committee of Pakistan headed by Moin Khan included Hafeez in the 15-man squad for the World Cup with a hope that he will be able to clear his bowling action in time before the mega event explodes on February 14.

Pakistan are due to take on arch-rivals India in their opening match and the Men in Green have never beaten their Blue opponents in World Cup history.

Hafeez was an integral part of Pakistan as an all-rounder and the selectors and PCB’s illegal action committee members are confident that he will roll over his arm in World Cup.

“There was a consensus between selectors and illegal action committee members that Hafeez is now closing on the allowed limit of 15-degree and he would clear his action in time ahead of the mega event,” a senior PCB official said.

“Pakistan team will leave for New Zealand on January 21 so the board is likely to request ICC that they take Hafeez’s official reassessment in Brisbane so that not much time is lost and Hafeez rejoins the team quickly for the preparations of the World Cup.”

Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan confirmed that board is writing to ICC.

“Yes we are writing to ICC to take his official test again before the end of this month. Hafeez seems really confident that he is ready to clear test because he missed the informal test in Chennai by a single degree and he knows where he can improve on that as well,” Shaharyar commented on the issue.

“If he clears the official test, then he’ll serve Pakistan as an all-rounder.”
