Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) remain undecided over whether to issue a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to participate in the inaugural UAET20x league.

The Bangladesh all-rounder is currently sidelined for up to three months as he undergoes rehabilitation for his injured finger but he had recently applied for a NOC to participate in the T20 league which gets underway on December 19.

BCP media committee chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed the receipt of the all-rounder’s request but said that a decision is yet to be taken.

“He had sent NOC for approval to take part in the franchise-based T20 tournament in UAE and we will notify him about our stance within a day or two,” Jalal was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

The 31-year-old has been carrying a finger injury for some time now but decided to play through the discomfort in the recent Asia Cup in the UAE. The southpaw aggravated his injury in the tournament and flew back to Bangladesh before his side’s semi-final appearance.

Shakib had aggravated his injury in the Asia Cup.

Shakib’s injury has seen him miss Bangladesh’s ongoing ODI series against Zimbabwe and he will in all probability be sidelined for the series against the West Indies as well.

In an interview with Cricbuzz recently, the Bangladesh star had stated that he had applied for a NOC to keep ‘all options’ open.

“I want to be fit as quickly as possible. I want to keep all my options open so that I can avail the first opportunity that comes my way. I would like to play against Zimbabwe in the Test series but if that is not the case, then there is series against West Indies, then the tournament in UAE that I applied for or say BPL or the tour of New Zealand,” Shakib had said.

“I want to keep all my options open so applied for it so that I can start playing at the earliest after regaining my full fitness. There is nothing more to it,” he added.
