All-rounder Chris Morris has made a return from injury to be included in South Africa’s 15-man squad for next month’s ODI series against Australia.

Morris and Farhaan Behardien both found a place in the ODI squad with injuries ruling out stalwarts Hashim Amla and JP Duminy. All-rounder Dwaine Pretorius also made a return to the ODI side for the first time since October 2017.

“Chris (Morris) confirmed his fitness with his excellent form for the Titans in the first two rounds of the four-day domestic series,” Cricket South Africa (CSA) national selection panel convener Linda Zondi said in a statement.

“He is the leading wicket-taker in this competition to date and also adds value as a batting option in the lower-order.

“With Wiaan Mulder ruled out at the moment through injury we need to look at our resources as far as batting all-rounder options are concerned and Dwaine, in particular, fits into this category.”

“We have also lost a lot of experience in our specialist batting order through the injuries to Hashim Amla and JP Duminy, and Farhaan gives us another experienced option in the top order,” Zondi added.

Faf du Plessis continues to lead the side while pacer Dale Steyn continues his white-ball comeback after featuring in the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

The three-match ODI series between Australia and South Africa gets underway on November 4 at Perth. The ODIs will be followed by a one-off T20I at the Gold Coast on November 17.
