Banned spinner and still number one bowler in One-Day International (ODI) rankings Saeed Ajmal has said that it feels great to be able to play in competitive match after three months as he took one wicket against Kenya while playing for Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Ajmal bowled six overs and gave away 23 runs in the curtailed 28-over affair due to heavy for but looked a bit rusty.

The 38-year-old spinner said that he is working really hard to get cleared before the 2015 World Cup squad is named and is confident that he will pass the second official test.

“I am 100% sure that I will clear the second official test because I’ve worked really hard during all these week to get clear in order to play in the world cup,” Ajmal said after the match while speaking to reporters.

“With the passage of time my varieties will also be seen but it will take sometime to bowl them perfectly with the new action.”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had fielded Ajmal for Pakistan A so that selectors and board’s illegal bowling action committee members could have a better chance to look at his modified action in match conditions before being sent for another official International Cricket Council (ICC) test.

“I’m feeling really well that I am back in the ground again playing competitive cricket. It was my first match in more than three months so I felt really comfortable out there in the middle. However, I know that there is room for improvement and it will come with more match practise and hopefully I’ll be at the same mark where I was before getting banned,” he concluded.
