8:40 pm – Rahane backs Dhawan and Pujara

India batsman Ajinkya Rahane said Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara need just one good knock to get back into form.

“We are not worried at all, because both are really quality batsmen,” he said. “It just takes one good innings to get into your rhythm. We all back them,” Rahane said ahead of the first Test against England.

England batsman Alastair Cook insists Adil Rashid is mature enough to handle the occasion of his controversial Test recall.

“Over the last 18 months I think he’s matured as a cricketer and improved since we last saw him in an England Test shirt,” Cook said.

Pakistan left-arm quick Mohammad Irfan will replace compatriot Junaid Khan in the Barbados Tridents side for the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The 36-year-old pacer has been drafted in a replacement after Junaid became unavailable.

South Africa pacer Dale Steyn has hit out at the imbalance between bat and ball in modern cricket. The Proteas’ joint leading wicket-taker in Test cricket has gone as far as to call Australia’s ball-tampering attempt a ‘cry for help’.

5:00pm: Cheteshwar Pujara and Joe Root’s woes in focus ahead of Test series

11:00am: No day-night Tests for Pakistan in the UAE this year

There will be no day-night Tests in the UAE this year when Pakistan host Australia and New Zealand.

According to reports from Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had decided against hosting what would have been a third day-night Test at Dubai due to the excess dew affecting spinners.
