Abdul Razzaq was making headlines on Wednesday morning with rumours circulating on social media that the former Pakistan all-rounder had passed away in a road accident.

The speculation started from a Facebook post and soon spread like wildfire, leading to Razzaq having to put them to bed himself.

The 38-year-old took to Twitter on Wednesday to quash the talk through a video post.

“A post on social media [Facebook] said that I was involved in an accident and subsequently died. There is no truth in such a thing as I am alive and well,” Razzaq, who took 100 Test wickets for Pakistan, stated in the video.

“People should refrain from posting such fake news on social media without properly investigating the story,” Razzaq added.

The all-rounder had an international career spanning two decades in which he played 46 Tests, 265 ODIs and 32 T20s for Pakistan.

He has the distinction of scoring over 5,000 runs and picking up over 250 wickets in ODI cricket along with over 2,000 runs and 100 wickets in Tests.

Razzaq made his debut for Pakistan all the way back in 1996 before making his last international appearance in an ODI against South Africa in November, 2013.
