England won the second ODI by 38 runs after they posted 342-8 against Australia in Cardiff on Saturday to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

After Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first, England openers Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy have given the hosts a solid start.

Bairstow fell for a 24-ball 42 while Alex Hales was clean-bowled by Jhy Richardson. Play resumed after two rain delays with Roy going on to register his fifth ODI century following the dismissal of Joe Root. The hosts ultimately posted 342-8 in their 50 overs following a fine unbeaten 91 (70) from stand-in skipper Jos Buttler.

In reply, Shaun Marsh smashed a superlative 131 but no other Aussie batsman reached fifty as the visitors were bowled out for 304.

The hosts were dealt a late injury blow with skipper Eoin Morgan ruled out of the clash due to a back spasm.
